BMW M8 Gran Coupe Brings Four-door Style

BMW M8 Gran Coupe at BMW of New London

In a time when sedans are largely being supplanted by SUVs and crossovers, BMW makes the case for why the classic four-door tourers are still relevant. The BMW M8 Gran Coupe, a mashup of the automaker’s M8 and 8-Series Gran Coupe, combines power and style for an unforgettable ride.

Designed for track performance, the 600-horsepower M8 Gran Coupe can go from zero to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. It is powered by a 4.4-liter V-8 engine with electronically controlled engine cooling, a Twin-Scroll Bi-Turbo, and a dual oil pan to maintain oil pressure during intensive maneuvers. The M8 Competition Gran Coupe trim ekes out a little more power, with a 617-horsepower engine that brings the zero to 60 time down to three seconds even.

The eight-speed M STEPTRONIC system incorporates Drivelogic’s three-stage shifting system, allowing you to quickly amp up the power. The Active M Differential adjusts for better traction in real time, while the M xDrive provides three different modes to distribute power in the best possible way.

Aluminum components abound throughout the suspension, with features such as electronically controlled dampers and twin tube gas pressure shock absorbers to guarantee a smooth ride. The Dynamic Stability Control system further improves handling with features like Start-off Assistant and Brake Fade Compensation.

Six-piston front M Sport Brakes come standard, part of BMW’s newest Integrated Brake System. M Carbon Ceramic Brakes are available as an option for even more stopping power.

The design of the M8 Gran Coupe aims for optimal aerodynamic performance, with features such as a double-bar kidney grille. Yet the model still boasts a refined look meant to turn heads, with a long, sloping silhouette and 20-inch M wheels.

Inside, the cockpit includes a stylish instrument cluster, a sport steering wheel, and a heads-up display. Other interior features include Merino leather seats, a 16-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, an extended center console, and ambient lighting.

The starting MSRP for the BMW M8 Gran Coupe is $130,000.
